I was visiting someone's blog this morning, totally unconnected to oldies or music in general, but the blogger did ask visitors to leave the title of their favorite rain song in their comment. That got me thinking about what my favorite rain song might be. I like rain, and I like rain songs. So, here, in no particular order, is my list of top vintage rain songs, plus a video of Ronettes photos accompanying their 1964 hit, "Walking in the Rain." See how many of these songs jog your memory. What favorites would you add that I don't have?
1) Walking in the Rain - The Ronettes
2) Raindrops - Dee Clark
3) Rain on the Roof - The Lovin' Spoonful
4) Riders on the Storm - The Doors
5) Rhapsody in the Rain - Lou Christie
6) Rhythm of the Rain - The Cascades
7) Cryin' in the Rain - The Everly Brothers
8) I Wish It Would Rain - The Temptations
9) Lay Down (Candles in the Rain) - Melanie
10) Who'll Stop The Rain - CCR
Okay, here the girls...

I am thinking "The Sky Is Crying" performed by such notables as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert King and George Thorogood might be a good addition. But your list is great! I think I would have to have "Raindrops" on top. When that hit, he touched a certain teenager's soul and remained for many years.
This is not a rock pop/tune, but Johhny Winter's 'Rain' is, I think, one of his best.
Lyrics can be found at:

I believe it is the only song written by a columnist named Daley. I found it on a compilation album "Hard Rockin' Blues"

Thanks for the extra trivia. I don't know the Winter song, or the SRV. My list was just for what I call 'vintage' years - later 50s to about 1970 - because that's what I know the best, but I'll be interested to check out the ones you mentioned.
I love the Temps singing "I Wish it would Rain" so sad... these are all songs i know but haven't heard in a while. Rain on the Roof brings happy times to mind, and the rainy sound effects in the Doors song were great.
Bus Stop ..Wet Day... She's There... I say.. Please Share my Umbrella...
not sure i got the lyrics right but
Baby the Rain must Fall
and the Len Barry (?) song Rhapsody in the Rain--
the windshield wipers seem to say
together together together together!
that wiper part seemed so cool when the song was a hit now it seems really dorky.
Way back when I used to make "Theme Tapes" -- songs that mention rain /weather was one theme, and NYC was another.
songs that mention the word Magic, songs using the word dream or dreaming, dreamy... Sunday & Other days of the week...
it must be raining in bloggerland because posting comments is a struggle here tonight.

I quite like "Baby the Rain Must Fall" (Glen Yarborough)and also Carol King's "It Might As Well Rain Until September" and the Hollies. Maybe I should have done my Top 15! "Rhapsody in the Rain" is on my list though, it's by Lou Christie.
I can't believe I forgot Lou Christie ...and he was on your list! My head is like a sieve!
Len Barry (1, 2 . 3? )
Stormy by ???? I had that 45 and I can't remember!
sieve!
wait I just thought of
"Tomorrow may rain so... I'll follow the sun."
but that's a sun song, really.
Raindrops keep falling on my head - had to be before 1970
@ AVID READER
You're very close with 1970 for "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" - that one is from the 1969 movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. And "Stormy" (1968) was by the Classics IV. I did a post on them recently when lead singer Dennis Yost died.
I know the other lyrics you mentioned are from a Beatles song, I think the title is Follow the Sun, or maybe it's I'll Follow the Sun. The whole thing about making a list of songs is what to include or what not to. For rain, it's like - songs specifically about rain, or songs that mention rain, or songs with rain in the title. Could get crazy-making!
